Dialectical Dessertism: The ContestIt has long been debated just how cake and pie came to be bitter enemies (and occassional allies against other desserts).  Some say it started in the Middle Ages when butter was first used for both unequally awesome desserts.  
While others say it was when cake became a CV and the power went to her head!  
At still yet, there is the rumor that is started when pie failed his sobriety test and blamed it all on cake for keeping him out too late.
But maybe none of those are the real story.  That's where YOU come in.
What's this Contest About?
It's pretty simple.  You're going to answer a very simple question.  What is the origin of the pie/cake debacle?  How you go about doing that is completely up to you.  But since you have complete creative freedom to write history, we're expecting some very interesting (to say the least) renditions.

Almost all of us on deviantART want to know how we are doing. We also know that to get any element of an answer, we have to put a lot of work in ourselves. It all sounds very exhausting, doesn't it?
We would like to openly discuss solutions the community can enact from within. This isn't just "what can the CVs do", but what can YOU do too. We don't want to waste good effort on the wrong things and moreso, we want to try to encourage more of you to get involved as individuals.

One of the best things about finding new love is the excitement and anticipation of the unknown. All of us at one time have felt that exhilarating feeling of unforeseen passion. I want for you to express to me in a poem or short story this unexpected feeling, and what it ultimately means to you. Be as vividly original as you can to make your deviation stand out, but do keep our key elements of what you feel the aspects of “unexpected love” entails as your primary motivation while writing.

This contest is open from January 18-February 18 (PST, aka dA time). No extensions.
The process is simple.
Start with one of your own stories. It doesn't have to be super-fleshed out, but it does need to be written down in some form, even if it's as simple as a series of character sketches and the world they live in.Change something important. There's a lot of options. Ask yourself 'what if X had happened differently' and go from there. Aside from changing key plot points, you may want to significantly alter a character (yes, genderbending is acceptable).

Summer romance's may be fleeting at times, but winter love is where the magic is. There's always something enchanting about the frost on windshields, that fluffy white snow nipping at your mittens and your nose all red before coming inside for some coco and a warm heater (or even better, a good old fashion fireplace). Winter's well known for bringing out the traditions and little children in all of us this time of year.
Prompt:
It would be simply too easy to tell you to have at writing a Winter Romance without throwing in a twist! You're inclined to write your winter romance and let your imagination's simply go with the flow, but to keep a fairly consistent flow, there's an additional section that you must take into consideration when writing. You Be The Judge ContestI've been tossing the idea of running a contest around for awhile now and just haven't come up with something that I could really latch onto.  Contests are always the same old thing.  The writers write something and the judges judge it.  And that's boring.  So I'm turning the tables. :omg:
In my contest, the writers are going to be the judges.  That's right, y'all are getting a red pen.  Just don't go too crazy with it!

The Details
It's pretty simple.  The contest will take two months.  The first month I will be taking submissions to be critiqued/commented.  I'm accepting any and all genres (the more the merrier) just follow the guidelines below for entering.
The second month will be for everyone to critique/comment.  The contest is open to everyone that wants to read and give feedback.
At the end of the two months, I will note all the writers and ask for their top two picks on feedback.  Whoever gives the best feedb

The basic idea
This contest will have you write either prose or poetry following the guidelines that Lady Randomness w
DDs: An IntroductionOne of the best things about being a writer on deviantART is the opportunity to be  featured in a Daily Deviation (DD). While most literature communities can only offer you an audience of other writers, deviantART can expose your work to an incredible range of artists - and even non-artists (and other assorted muggles). A DD is a golden ticket to the kind of exposure which is so hard for a struggling wordsmith to find.
And yet, the systems behind DDs seem to be a mystery to a large part of the deviantART community. Our recent poll suggests that almost half of our voters don't understand what DDs are or how they work.
